More forest, better climate
When forests are cut down, carbon dioxide is released, which drives the greenhouse effect. Here you can see examples of the inherent potential of forests to sequester carbon dioxide and thereby counteract the climate change.
The figures in the examples are based on the difference between the captured carbon in an old-growth forest and the captured carbon in a young, monocultured forest that has been planted after an old-growth forest has been cut down.
